Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care to patients experiencing mental health issues, working in a high-acuity environment during night shifts. The RN will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' mental health status and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor their effects, adhering to clinical protocols.
• Respond promptly to psychiatric crises and de-escalate volatile situations.
• Document patient progress and interventions accurately in electronic health records.
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Maintain compliance with licensing, safety, and institutional policies.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid California RN license.
• Possess at least 5 years of nursing experience, including mental health settings.
• BLS certification current and in good standing.
• Demonstrate experience or training in crisis intervention.
• Be able to work night shifts (3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Able to float within unit while maintaining clinical competence.
