Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to orchestrate and influence the work of others to enhance Kaweah Health’s mission and vision and to achieve strategic priorities of the nursing division. The role demonstrates high‑level leadership accountability focused on safety and the requisite infrastructures necessary to meet expectations of the patients and families served.

Qualifications
  • License/Certification:
    Required – CA RN license. Preferred – National certification in nursing leadership.
  • Education:

    Required – BSN Master’s degree in nursing, health care, business, or related discipline. Preferred – MSN.
  • Experience:

    Required – Five years of management experience in nursing leadership.
Job Responsibilities Essential
  • Directs delivery of patient care in the areas of responsibility in concordance with the plan for the provision of care and service, and with the plan for the provision of nursing care in Kaweah Health.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and revises the plan for the provision of care and service in assigned service areas.
  • Contributes to, and coordinates services with, the development, implementation and evaluation of the Kaweah Health plan for the provision of care and services.
  • Develops or participates in the development of patient‑care policies, procedures, protocols and standards which guide and support the provision of services.
  • Participates in nursing policy formation and decision‑making.
  • Holds direct reports accountable for meeting standards of nursing practice and patient care.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of patient care and service. Continuously assesses and improves department performance and manages financial resources.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient classification tools and the Title 22 requirements related to patient classification. Provides adequate staff resources for the plan for patient care.
  • Integrates the department/services with Kaweah Health’s primary functions.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures consistent with the Kaweah Health Mission that guide and support the Provision of Services Plan.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence level for department staff and recommends required staffing levels.
  • Contributes to staff development, providing orientation, in‑services and continuing education.
  • Recommends requirements for space and other resources, participates in selecting outside sources for needed services and assists in the management of physician contracts.
  • Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation or research that could impact the department and Kaweah Health.

  • Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender and age‑specific needs.
  • Communicates effectively and cares for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
Pay Range

$85.28 – $127.92
