Position

Acute Wound Care IP Services – Department 6191 – Full‑time, 12‑hour day shift (United States)

Pay Range

$48.30 – $72.45

Qualifications
  • License / Certification: CA RN license required
  • BLS required
  • Education preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN‑BSN program
  • Experience required:
    Clinical nursing experience with acute wound care
Responsibilities
  • Practice guided by the Code of Ethics and professional behavior
  • Identify high‑risk patients and initiate intervention with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and act as patient advocate
  • Deliver care in a non‑judgmental and nondiscriminatory manner
  • Utilize the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Collect clinical data to monitor quality and effectiveness of nursing care
  • Identify quality monitoring aspects and formulate recommendations to improve nursing practice or patient outcomes
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to improve quality of care
  • Participate on interdisciplinary teams evaluating clinical practice or health services related to patient care
  • Participate in QI studies, task forces or committees, and implement suggested improvements
  • Identify problematic areas and recommend problem solving
  • Share findings of studies and audits with others
  • Collaborate and communicate with patient, family, and other healthcare providers
  • Monitor documentation for appropriate referrals and involve patients in care decisions
  • Serve as a primary clinical expert and resource for patients with complex wounds, ostomy care, or incontinence issues
  • Provide guidance to staff and physicians on treatment within the organization’s approved products
  • Assist staff with product use and ensure understanding of treatment plans
  • Manage and prioritize orders to ensure services are provided to those in greatest need first
  • Ensure collaboration among staff, physicians, and other disciplines in patient care
  • Maintain open lines of communication
  • Provide staff with support, guidance, and education regarding wound, ostomy, and incontinence care
  • Make fiscally responsible decisions regarding time, supplies, equipment, and overall organizational fiscal impact
Team Leader Addendum
  • Serve as primary clinical resource for staff on assigned unit
  • Act as a role model and mentor for staff, and serve as Nurse Manager Representative in absence
  • Provide leadership, support, and effective problem solving and decision making
  • Manage staff and patient flow, coordinate care in high‑risk/emergent situations, and keep leadership aware of critical patients and unit issues
  • Ensure collaboration among staff, physicians, other providers, and departments
  • Maintain documentation and reporting of patient care issues
  • Ensure appropriate nurse completes a Statement of Concern
  • Understand and utilize Medical Staff and Kaweah Health’s chain of command
  • Provide employee guidance and alert Nurse Manager of counseling needs
  • Provide patient care as needed
  • Make fiscally responsible decisions regarding staffing and patient supplies
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for the population served on the assigned unit or work area
  • Be knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs
  • Effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
