Position: Assistant Nurse Manager Cardiac Med Surg 2N

Overview

Full-Time;
Day - 10 Hour Shift;
Department 6150 M/S Cardiac-2N. Under the direction of the nurse manager, the position assists with oversight of efficient operations to meet the holistic needs of patients and families, with leadership accountability in ensuring staff competency, financial responsibility, and alignment with Kaweah Health s mission and strategic priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Understands the principles of utilization and case management.
  • Ensure patient care needs are met in a timely manner and care is coordinated across the continuum of services and sites.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the needs and preferences of medical care providers and provide excellent service.
  • Monitor patients daily through rounds and feedback.
  • Monitor patient care documentation to ensure adequacy of patient information and regulatory compliance.
  • Use the Statement of Concern process to report patient care issues.
  • Use patient satisfaction data to improve care and service.
  • Know and utilize the Medical Staff and Kaweah Health chains of command.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Manager/Educator on orientation plans for new staff.
  • Identify performance or education issues through observation and monitoring of outcomes, and communicate concerns to the appropriate Nurse Manager and Educator.
  • Assess float staff and determine minimal competencies for staff floated into areas supervised.
  • Follow HR policies and procedures to meet Kaweah Health employment standards.
  • Provide adequate staff resources for carrying out the unit plan of care; demonstrate knowledge of patient classification tools and Title 22 requirements related to patient classification, and use the patient classification tool to direct staffing.
  • Hold staff accountable for knowledge and use of patient classification.
  • Participate in interviewing new employees and assist in recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Contribute to staff development by ensuring continuing education and in-services are available.
  • Communicate effectively with key constituencies (patients, physicians, staff, and other departments/units) and with other patient care leaders.
  • Coordinate patient care and service between Units and KH departments/disciplines; participate in meetings and projects; respond promptly to communications; use e-mail responsibly.
  • Practice guided by the Code for Nurses: ethical decisions and actions on behalf of patients/residents and staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters; act as a patient advocate and coach/mentor staff in advocating for patients.
  • Model nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory delivery of patient care that preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
  • Be knowledgeable about growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age-specific needs.
  • Communicate effectively to provide care for patients and families as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
Qualifications
  • License / Certification

    Required:

    CA RN license; BLS; ACLS within one year of hire/transfer;
    Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer.
  • Education Preferred: Bachelor s degree in relevant field within three years of hire/transfer.
  • Experience Preferred: Expertise in clinical area; supervisory experience or training.
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills; effective interpersonal skills; critical thinking and creative problem solving.
Pay Range

$53.27 - $79.91
