Job DescriptionThe position provides 24/7 oversight of efficient operations to meet the holistic needs of patients and families. It requires high‑level leadership accountability to assure staff competency, financial responsibility, and to advance Kaweah Health’s mission and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates knowledge of Joint Commission standards, California Nursing Practice Act, relevant Title 22 and 17 sections, and FCC guidelines including HIPAA.
- Has 24‑hour responsibility for quality of care and performance improvement activities within the area of supervision.
- Organizes patient care and services based on staff availability and patient needs in collaboration with the Director and unit plan.
- Assists staff with clinical assessment, decision‑making, and prioritization of patient care during shortages.
- Coordinates patient discharge, planning rounds and ensures care is linked across the continuum of services and sites.
- Monitors patients daily through rounds, reviews documentation for adequacy and regulatory compliance.
- Uses the Statement of Concern process and patient satisfaction data to improve care.
- Reports and documents competency of staff, collaborates for orientation, evaluates staff annually, and completes performance appraisals within 30 days.
- Uses research findings to develop policies, procedures, and guidelines; shares information with staff.
- Assesses float staff, determines minimal competencies, and ensures employment standards are met.
- Prepares staff schedules aligned with patient classification tools and Title 22 requirements.
- Interviews, hires, attracts, and retains staff; supports staff development through continuing education and in‑services.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, staff, other units, and stakeholders; participates in meetings and projects.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and acts as a patient advocate, coaching staff in advocacy.
- Models non‑judgmental, nondiscriminatory care, preserving patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- CA RN license.
- BLS certification.
- Completion of Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire.
- Experience:
Clinical area expertise and supervisory experience. - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred). - Excellent written and oral communication skills; effective interpersonal, critical thinking, and creative problem‑solving skills.
Pay range: $59.92 – $89.88 per hour.

Day — 8‑hour or less. Department: 6151 ICCU‑3W.
