Overview

Kaweah Health is a publicly owned community healthcare organization that serves the greater Visalia area in California, operating eight campuses with 613 beds. The Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team works to protect and promote health, prevent illness and injury, and alleviate suffering through nursing diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the interdisciplinary health care team providing holistic care and advocating for patients and families.
  • Identify high‑risk patients and initiate interventions in collaboration with ancillary departments.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and act as a patient advocate, assisting patients in developing self‑advocacy skills.
  • Deliver non‑judgmental, nondiscriminatory care that preserves patient autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Use the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to guide practice and document care.
  • Collect and analyze clinical data to monitor quality of care and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practice guidelines that enhance quality of care.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams and quality‑improvement studies, share findings, and implement recommendations.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and other health‑care providers to formulate care plans and make referrals as needed.
  • Monitor documentation for appropriate referrals and ensure continuity of care.
Leadership & Team‑Leader Responsibilities
  • Primary clinical resource for unit staff, acting as role model and mentor.
  • Represent Nurse Manager in absence, provide support through effective problem‑solving and decision‑making.
  • Support staff orientation, preceptor roles, and new employee integration.
  • Input on employee evaluations and provide guidance on counseling needs.
  • Manage staff assignments, monitor breaks, and plan for future staffing.
  • Ensure all equipment checks are completed and coordinate care in high‑risk or emergent situations.
  • Maintain open communication and report patient care issues to appropriate leadership.
  • Make fiscally responsible decisions regarding staffing and supply use.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • BLS and ACLS certification within one year of hire or transfer.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional behavior; demonstrates integrity and respect for all.
  • Ability to work non‑judgmentally and uphold patient confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in the nursing process and quality‑improvement activities.
Education
  • Preferred: BSN, MSN, or enrollment in an RN‑BSN program.
Licensing & Certification
  • CA RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS certification within one year of hire.
Compensation

Pay Range: $46.44 – $69.66 per hour.

Work shift:

Variable – 12 hour shift.
