We are looking for a Lab Technician in 8020 West Doe Ave, Visalia, CA 93291 USA. Your mission will be to:

Prepares sample for processing and maintains documentation of process to facilitate analysis procedures.

Main activities:

• Read plates and tubes, as required, to determine the number of organisms in the sample
• Record findings on worksheet for verification
• Write identification onto plates so that client and sample number can be tracked
• Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performed
• Pour the agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process
• Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending
• Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified amount of time and temperature
• Prepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as required
• Sterilize materials needed for analysis. Autoclave plates before discarding
• Perform food poisoning, pH and other analysis tests on sample when requested by the client
• Ensure that media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence
• Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis
• Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process
• Perform necessary housekeeping duties, keep work areas and equipment clean and sanitized
• Participate in cleaning schedule and maintain retain samples as required
• Adhere to all safety policies
• Support laboratory management in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system
• Perform other related tasks as needed

• No previous laboratory experience is required - we will provide full training
• Temperature controlled work environment
• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, food industry, food service, or retail
• Profile: 4 year science degree preferred. Must have basic knowledge of lab science to perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results. Basic knowledge of PCs to enter testing data. Basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies. Planning skills to maintain supplies and ensure timely analysis.
• Required skills: Analytical skills, general knowledge of LIMS, physical dexterity for manipulating samples.
• Work Environment: Laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to fumes and chemicals. Safety equipment may be required. Daily use of autoclave. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Ability to detect slight color shade variations.

Compensation and

Schedule:

Pay starts at $18.50-$20.50 per hour. 5-day work week, weekends required.

Hours:

6am-2:30pm, with regular overtime. Overtime: 10-15 hours per week, OT paid at time and a half.
