Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Title
This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies for those County departments that have this position, which are the Resource Management Agency and the Solid Waste Department.
Typical DutiesThe duties include inspecting various types of equipment, removing and installing engines, and inspecting, adjusting, and replacing mechanical units. For Level II, additional duties include training staff, operating testing equipment, and tuning engines.
Minimum QualificationsQualifications include education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, experience in vehicle or heavy equipment mechanic work, and knowledge of vehicle and equipment repair principles, tools, and safety practices. Licenses and certificates required include a valid class "C" driver's license, willingness to obtain a class "B" license, and obtaining a Forklift Operator's and Air Conditioning certificate within the first year of employment.

Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and may undergo a background investigation. This position may qualify for student loan forgiveness through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (CCRAA). The employer is an equal employment opportunity provider.
