TITLE:

SHIPPING & RECEIVING LOADER/CHECKER

REPORTS TO:

MOS/SHIPPING SUPERVISOR DEPARTMENT: SHIPPING AND RECEIVING GRADE:

SUMMARYTo help direct activities involved in the shipment and receiving of materials; operating forklift to move pipe and materials to and from the production areas and to load and unload trucks. Perform functions of data entry and retrieval on computer system, including pulling and posting orders, checking inventory levels and building trucks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operate forklift equipment in order to load correct product for safe delivery to the customer.

Ability to organize and plan loads; establish daily priorities for shipping and receiving.

Instruct drivers on yard safety and safe loading/un Perform some clerical type duties such as: photograph outgoing shipments, prepares loaders check list, signs receipts and freight bills, prepares receiving reports and insures shipments conform to shipping orders.

Operates and is responsible for miscellaneous office and materials handling equipment such as computer, calculator, camera, and two wheel truck.

Establish and maintain good working relations with employees.

Has a thorough knowledge of all operations and equipment as well as the various types and sizes of plastic pipe products.

Completes daily loading tickets for Shipping and Receiving departments.

Teaches, advocates, and uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.

Maintains good housekeeping program at all times.

Fills out miscellaneous reports as necessary and conducts periodic inventory checks as required.

Maintains efficient use of warehouse and storage facilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School diploma or G.

E.

D., 1-2 years college or equivalent experience. 3-5 years in related field. Must be qualified on subordinate jobs, material and equipment.

COMPUTER SKILLS Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Internet/Intranet and AS400 experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as adding, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
