Accounts Payable Clerk

Description

Robert Half is partnering with a busy distribution company that is adding an Accounts Payable Clerk to its accounting department. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and wants exposure to the operational side of accounting.

You'll work closely with Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse, and Accounting to make sure invoices are accurate, properly documented, and paid on time.

Responsibilities:

+ Process invoices for inventory, supplies, freight, and operating expenses

+ Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation

+ Verify quantities, pricing, vendor information, and payment terms

+ Research discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, and receipts

+ Enter invoices into the accounting system

+ Maintain vendor files and W-9 documentation

+ Assist with vendor statement reconciliations

+ Track outstanding invoices and upcoming payment obligations

+ Prepare invoices for approval

+ Assist with check runs, ACH payments, and other payment processing

+ Research duplicate invoices and credits

+ Communicate with Purchasing and Receiving regarding missing information

+ Assist with month-end AP reporting and reconciliations

+ Maintain accurate digital accounting records

Requirements

+ 1-2 years of AP or general accounting experience

+ High school diploma required; accounting coursework or degree a plus

+

Experience with purchase orders and invoice matching preferred

+ Strong Excel and data-entry skills

+ Excellent attention to detail

+ Comfortable working with deadlines and high transaction volume

+ Strong communication and problem-solving skills
