Substitute Teacher Buena Vista School District

Under the direct supervision of the building Principal, to temporily substitute as a teacher in one of the four BVSD schools.

• Teach or instruct according to the lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.
• Long-term substitutes may prepare lesson plans and instruct.
• Provide other services and instruction, as needed, as a regular teacher would provide.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Bachelor degree preferred.

• Current Colorado Department of Education Substitute Teaching Certificate
• Current Colorado Teaching License

Ability to correspond with students, parents and administration.

Ability to solve practical problems.

• Ability to maintain effective relationships with students, parents, peers and administration.
• Skilled in oral and written communication.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of District requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push and/or lift up to 40 pounds such as a child. Recess duty frequently required so should be prepared to be outside with students.

• $150/day - full day
• $75/day - half day
