SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The purpose of a Behavior Specialist is to lead the design and implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and positive behavior support services; supervise and train Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Special Education Instructional Assistants; conduct behavioral assessments and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs); and provide consultation, training, and technical assistance to staff, administrators, and families. The Behavior Specialist also ensures compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and district policies while supporting the integration of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) across school sites.

Requirements / Qualifications

Experience:

Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Education:

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field. Equivalency:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field combined with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral intervention may be considered as qualifying for the minimum requirements.

PROMOTIONAL TESTING - Open to permanent employees of the District and former VUSD employees on the re-employment list only. Resulting in one (1) Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year or until the list becomes exhausted. All properly completed applications will be reviewed and the most highly qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process.

The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant's skill, training and experience. The EdJoin system will time-out after a 20 minute period of perceived inactivity. Your responses to the supplemental questions are limited to 5,000 characters. A completed on-line application is required of all applicants to be considered for this opening.

SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug test, TB test, fingerprinting and may include a physical exam. The physical and drug screen are paid for by the District. The fingerprint cost is $40.00 and is paid for by the candidate.
