The purpose of an Instructional Assistant – Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is to provide paraprofessional instructional activities as directed by a teacher in the Transitional Kindergarten program; perform clerical duties as related to the Transitional Kindergarten program; utilize specialized skills learned in this classification for the care, supervision, and teaching of TK students; and perform related tasks and duties as required under the supervision of the classroom teacher and site administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate and some paid/volunteer experience working with youths in an organized setting. Proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent to be submitted with completed application and meet one of the 3 requirements:
A) Completion of 2 years of study (48 semester units) at an institution of higher learning, or
B) an Associate's Degree or higher, or
C) pass a rigorous District-administered assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and math.

- Proof of HS Graduation (Diploma or GED required if less than 48 units)

- Open to the public with the selection process resulting in an Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies, provide substitutes, and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year. All properly completed applications will be reviewed, and the most highly qualified individuals will be invited to continue in the selection process. The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview, and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant's skill, training, and experience.
