Special Education Teacher

New Haven Youth & Family Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our interdisciplinary team. As a Special Education Teacher at New Haven, you will play a critical role in implementing customized educational plans designed to engage and empower our students while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for each student in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and other staff to integrate educational and therapeutic goals.
• Utilize and adapt the latest educational technologies to suit individual learning needs.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and motivational classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Regularly assess and record student progress, adjusting teaching methods to meet evolving needs.
• Engage families or caregivers in the educational process, providing regular updates and guidance on supporting student development at home.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to ensure best practices in special education.
