Welcome to Therapy South! We are a neuro-affirming, DIR influenced pediatric private practice serving pediatric OT, PT and speech therapy clients since 2016. Our team of dedicated professionals are passionate about empowering children and families reach their full potential through innovation, neuro-science and shared connection.

Currently, we are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Lead to provide direct patient care as well as clinical oversight for the Speech Team and Clinical Fellowship Year team members. The SLP Lead will work with families directly, supervise other SLPs and encourage them, grow yourself as a clinician and be a part of one of the most genuine and supportive teams in San Diego.

Responsibilities as SLP Lead:

  • Overall lead of the Speech Team and the first line of support for other speech therapists.
  • Contributes ideas for programs and procedures that would further expand on the growth and success of the Speech Team.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain current Speech Team performance measures.
  • Develop team members performance plans aligned against our mission, vision, values and goals.
  • Participate in the new hires screening and hiring selection process.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and coaching support as needed to assigned team members
  • Assist with managing schedules and deadlines
  • Keep abreast with all organizational changes and business developments
  • Approximately 60% direct patient care and 40% admin/Lead responsibilities
  • Provide regular status updates to Therapy South Leadership

Other necessary qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • California state licensure or eligibility for licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a propensity for problem solving and working within a team.
  • Strong clinical skills and expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of speech and language disorders across diverse populations and age groups.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to work within numerous online platforms such as Google Workspace, Trello, Slack and our Electronic Medical Record.
  • A genuine joy and passion for working with children and their families
  • A child led approach to therapeutic care and a whole brain-body approach to child development.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and move easily on the floor during therapy sessions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of current trends and advancements in the field of speech therapy.

What does this role look like clinically?

The role of the Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist is to support families and children who have an identified need for language and communication support. Oftentimes, this is with non-speaking individuals, helping to provide access to a functional mode of communication that is not the expressive word. The SLP will evaluate, screen and treat clients from a strengths based lens, keep timely and accurate documentation, and serve as one of many support layers in the child's developmental program.

The majority of our clients are 18 months to 12 years old.
