Lead Systems Support Technician
The purpose of the Lead Systems Support Technician is to provide coordination of software and hardware support to ensure the smooth running of Local Area Network (LAN) operations; provides leadership to assigned staff in performing a variety of technical resource services in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software; provide technical assistance to LAN users.
Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership to assigned staff in performing a variety of technical resource services in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware, software, and audio and visual equipment;
- trains and provides work direction to assigned staff in the use of LAN equipment and software
- Coordinates software and hardware support to assure the smooth running of LAN operations;
- coordinates and prioritizes activities to assure technical issues reported to the site helpline are resolved in a timely manner; assists administrators with the implementation of changes in technical procedures
- Performs a variety of technical resource services in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware, software, and audio and visual equipment; install, configure, and maintain a variety of multi-vendor hardware and software in workstations and stand-alone environments; repair and replace hardware as needed
- Provides technical assistance to LAN users; responds to technical inquiries and provides information;
- identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves network issues related to printing, application access, workstation communication, audio and visual equipment, and memory management for District users
- Troubleshoots a wide variety of computer, audio and visual equipment, and network issues; repairs or provides for repair of equipment as appropriate
- Maintains network backups; designs, customizes, and configures network images for distribution across the network utilizing a variety of imaging software
- Maintains supply of network cards, cables and peripheral devices, audio and visual equipment, and other replacement parts
- Configures computers for network and printing applications according to District standards; troubleshoots and resolves printer and printer communication issues; audio and visual equipment; ensures proper internet and e-mail access; installs appropriate software and hardware
- Trains users in the operation of LAN equipment; facilitates the coordination of necessary staff development
- Communicate with Site personnel, students, parents, and a variety of outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to technical issues, inventory, hardware and software, work orders, purchase requisitions, and user and network information
- Operates various technical and office equipment, including a telephone, cable tester, variety of hand and power tools, and a computer and assigned software; operates a vehicle to travel to work sites and conduct work as assigned by the position
- Attends assigned meetings, conferences, in-services, and workshops to maintain current knowledge of technological advances
