Material Planning Supervisor

Overview

The Material Planning Supervisor will be responsible for processing purchasing requisitions, managing a team to fill purchasing orders, auditing and properly filing purchase orders, managing orders through an online database, as well as working as a liaison between internal departments and external vendors.

• Moderate the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases
• Manage schedules, short term assignments, long term goals, staff training, annual evaluations and other necessary programs / policies
• Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning and engineering departments to acquire necessary inventory in a cost effective, timely manner
• Evaluate vendor reliability and make recommendations regarding opportunities for lower cost or more efficient vendor options
• Inventory management, vendor delivery information, supply status, coordinating material planning activities and reporting on material issues
• Advise with internal and external personnel and manage a team of employees for material planning activities
• Develop material planning staff to ensure activities meet pre-established key performance indicators such as inventory reduction, on‑time material delivery and backlog delinquency reduction
• Lead the supply chain manager through maintaining proper inventory levels of materials used on a regular basis

• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelor’s degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
• Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
• Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

The position requires eligibility to obtain authorization under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Non-US Persons, as defined in the ITAR and EAR, may not be eligible to obtain authorization.
