Tool Maker (MOLD MAKER)
Location:
Vista, CA
Pay: $62,400.00 - $83,200.00 depending on experience
Shift: Day Shift - (7:00am - 3:00pm Mon - Fri)
Reports To:
Director of Manufacturing
The Tool Maker will build, revise, and maintain customer owned molds, tooling, and fixtures by performing machining and assembly processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build new tools for our customers; interpret drawings to develop build plan
- Troubleshoot molds in collaboration with process engineers
- Inspects completed tools for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality
- Uses tools to build fixtures; creates dies as required to construct new fixtures
- Repairs and maintains molds and fixtures when needed; disassembles molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures, then cleans and reassembles when repaired
- Reads and understands blueprints and complicated schematics as required to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts
- Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create designs and/or turn designs into blueprints.
- Use computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to program CNC machines
- Operates a variety of manual and automatic machines, such as:
Haas Mills and Lathes, Makino EDMs, surface grinders, etc - Regularly tests all equipment, tools, and machines to ensure they are arranged and set properly and working efficiently
- Modifies machines to control speed, material feed, or path of cut as required to ensure a quality product is produced within specifications
- Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace
- Works well in a team-based environment
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Ability to safely and accurately operate all measuring and production equipment
- Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra
- Thorough understanding of metallic properties
- Ability to work independently, and with engineers and machinists
- Proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
- software, such as Solid Works and Master Cam
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated, positive work ethic, energetic, able to multitask and work with minimal supervision
- Must have good organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
AAS (2 year) degree in Machine Tool Technology (or equivalent)
1-2 Years of experience building injection molds
