Urban Street Angels, Inc. (“USA”) is a local non‑profit organization founded in 2012 with a mission to end youth homelessness in the San Diego and surrounding area. Opening a new transitional housing facility in Vista, CA for those ages 18‑25 experiencing homelessness.

Job Summary

The Residential Services Coordinator plays a vital role in overseeing the evening and overnight operations of a residential transitional housing facility, ensuring that residents receive high‑quality care and support. This position requires strong leadership skills, a compassionate approach to participant care, and the ability to be productive throughout the night. The ideal candidate will have experience working with homeless or in a similar setting and be dedicated to helping participants achieve their goals while fostering a positive living environment.

Duties
  • Ability to multi‑task and handle competing demands from a program of 21 TAY with the ability to use training and remain calm during any potential emergencies or crises;
  • Provides education and support to clients about the mental health stigma and ways to combat it;
  • Generates community support through volunteers (i.e. organizing events/volunteer opportunities);
  • Serves as liaison between partners and linked programs, and encourages clients’ use of these resources;
  • Provide ongoing ‘side‑by‑side’ services related to skills development;
  • Displays regular and reliable attendance; reports to and departs from work on time, as scheduled;
  • Successfully functions as a team member, while remaining organized, documenting all TAY interactions correctly on forms and/or into computer tracking systems according to procedure;
  • Assists participants in making food (i.e. teaching how to cook and helping to prepare family style meals);
  • Assists participants in job searches and trade school applications;
  • Provides assistance to staff;
  • Assures compliance with established rules, policies and procedures;
  • Provides after hours support and handles emergencies for approx. 21 participants;
  • Monitors participant’s after‑hours activities (i.e. leaving or entering the house, behavior changes & patterns, etc.);
  • Walks property, inspecting house and surrounding areas for safety hazards and maintenance concerns;
  • Responds to all emergency or security issues that occur during designated shift;
  • Contacts emergency first responders or police when appropriate;
  • Keeps staff informed of all issues concerning participants;
  • Immediately notifies supervisory staff when necessary;
  • Maintains written log of all activities for entire property;
  • Records in written log, findings and any corrective measures taken of periodic security and safety inspections;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Minimum of one years’ experience working overnight shifts and/or working with homeless youth in some capacity;
  • Must be able to fluently, read, write and communicate in English (bilingual a plus);
  • Must be able to comfortably, both mentally and physically, perform all aspects of job description and other duties as assigned by supervisor;
  • Must be able to comfortably walk up and down stairs, walk for extended periods of time, sit for periods of time;
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with participants, community members, and team members;
  • Must submit to a background check via Live Scan (with ongoing alerts), as required by specific programs, funding requirements and licensing regulations.
