Job Summary
The Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse provides care during transport between designated facilities by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s needs during each encounter. The SCT Nurse demonstrates leadership by adhering to standards of patient care, providing the highest level of customer service, and directing the multidisciplinary patient care team. The SCT Nurse accepts responsibility for creating an environment that promotes healing and wellness, demonstrated by delivery of positive patient and family‑centered care services.
PositionResponsibilities
- Performs patient assessment and provides appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command during all patient transports.
- Functions as the crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
- Accurately and completely documents patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment, and transfer of care upon completion of every incident; and responds efficiently to all quality assurance requests.
- Effectively manages rapidly changing situations and demonstrates standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
- Maintains all Virtua‑owned equipment and property in a safe, clean, and secure manner.
- Performs vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift and ensures that the SCTU is ready for service at all times.
- Minimum of one year nursing experience required; two years preferred in an Emergency Department or a Critical Care Unit. Requires strong critical thinking skills, ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team during delivery of patient care.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- ACLS, PALS, CPR certifications required.
- Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey.
- Valid driver’s license; at least 18 years of age and meet insurance requirements.
- Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required;
Current CCRN certification or CEN certification preferred.
$45.64 – $61.91 hourly.
