Patient Care Technician - Med Surg , Part-Time Nights, Voorhees

Position Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), assists patients with activities of daily living and supports the plan of care. Communicates with healthcare team, patients, and families, maintaining professional ethics.

• Support patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and mobility/transport.
• Demonstrate standard precautions, including isolation care and safe patient practice.
• Perform technical duties as directed by RN/LPN such as vital signs, point‑of‑care testing, bladder scanning, and Foley catheter care, and document appropriately.
• May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Identify and communicate changes in patient’s status to RN/LPN and respond appropriately.
• Reinforce education of patients and family/responsible parties regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
• Participate in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives, performance‑improvement activities, and orientation of new hires.

• Demonstrated knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards.
• Strong communication skills.

High School Diploma or Grade Equivalent Diploma (GED).

• BLS certification.
• Phlebotomy training/education required for Emergency Department positions.
• Successful completion of a PCT course, fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or one year of direct patient care experience.
• Continuous learning and maintenance of regulatory and departmental competencies.

Location:

Voorhees – 100 Bowman Drive (Remote or On‑Site).

Shift: Night Shift – 12hr (18 hours per week).
