The role of the Specialty Care Transport (SCT) Nurse is to provide the required care during transport between designated facilities by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s needs during each encounter. The SCT Nurse demonstrates leadership by adhering to standards of patient care, providing the highest level of customer service and by directing the multidisciplinary patient care team. The SCT Nurse accepts the responsibility of creating an environment which promotes healing and wellness, demonstrated by delivery of positive patient and family-centered care services.

• Perform patient assessment and provide appropriate treatment according to established protocols and medical command during all patient transports.
• Function as the crew leader on a multi-disciplinary care team.
• Accurately and completely document patient assessment, treatment, response to treatment and transfer of care upon completion of every incident.
• Accurately and efficiently respond to all quality assurance requests.
• Effectively manage rapidly changing situations and demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
• Maintain all Virtua owned equipment and property in a safe, clean and secure manner.
• Perform vehicle and equipment check at the start of each shift.
• Ensure that the SCTU is ready for service at all times.

Required:

• 1 year minimum nursing experience required; preferred in an Emergency Department or a Critical Care Unit.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team during delivery of patient care.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• ACLS, PALS, CPR certifications required.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and meet insurance requirements.
• Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required.
• Current CCRN certification or CEN certification preferred.

$45.64 - $61.91 (varies based on experience and internal equity)
