Position Summary:

In cooperation with Nursing Administration, the Charge Nurse ensures that a consistently high-quality level of care is delivered throughout the nursing facility. This position requires broad clinical nursing experience, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to oversee daily unit operations with initiative and good judgment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Unit Care: Oversee daily resident care, verify unit staffing, and ensure individual nursing care plans are followed.

  • Clinical Oversight: Perform rounds to assess resident conditions, administer medications and treatments, and oversee the charting process.

  • Team Leadership: Collaborate with the Nursing Supervisor, assist with staff training, and ensure resident call lights are answered promptly.

  • Admissions & Transfers: Manage resident admissions, transfers, and discharges, and coordinate with attending physicians for initial orders.

  • Safety & Quality: Identify potential safety hazards, assist with the Quality Improvement program, and ensure compliance with facility guidelines.

  • Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for residents, families, physicians, and staff to maintain a caring and compassionate atmosphere.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a current LPN license in the state.

  • Up-to-date physical assessment skills and comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles.

  • Experience in geriatric, long-term care, or rehabilitative nursing preferred.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.

  • Annual verification of a negative TB test.

  • Strong knowledge of nursing theories, practices, medications, and treatments.

  • Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise nursing staff and unit functions.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate compassionately with residents, families, and staff.

  • Ability to understand clinical instructions, train staff, and manage potential safety hazards.
