During the internship, each participant will be assigned one to two projects aligned with the nursing departments they support. These projects are intended to enhance clinical understanding and provide meaningful engagement in patient care environments.
Successful candidates will demonstrate core qualities essential to healthcare, including compassion, integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, and a genuine desire to work directly with patients. Preferred qualifications include CPR certification and training in blood pressure monitoring.
This internship is best suited for students pursuing degrees in nursing, physician assistant studies, or pre-medical programs. Applicants are strongly encouraged to have completed at least their first year of college prior to the start of the program.
Must meet one of the following requirements current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire 2 years experience in a healthcare related field training time will be determined based on experience currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18 two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted.
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire. CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required).
Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire. Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications. Demonstrates ability to critically think. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds.
