Overview
Pathfinder is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Floater to support individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The role offers flexibility to work across various shifts and locations, with a focus on helping individuals lead self-directed lives and participate in their communities. Responsibilities include daily living support, health and safety, advocacy, and collaboration with teams to implement individualized plans.
Responsibilities- Daily Living Support:
Teach and assist with personal care, meal preparation and planning, and daily living tasks to promote independence (e.g., cooking, bathing, and other personal care needs). - Community Engagement:
Facilitate community integration and help individuals build meaningful connections. - Health and Safety:
Administer medications, provide first aid, assist with medical appointments, monitor health conditions, and safeguard individuals from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. - Advocacy and Rights:
Use Person-Centered Thinking (PCT) and People First approaches to uphold rights, autonomy, and choices. - Individualized Support Plans:
Collaborate with individuals to develop and implement customized support plans aligned with personal goals. - Documentation and Privacy:
Maintain accurate documentation and protect privacy and confidentiality. - Collaboration and Communication:
Build positive relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders; involve individuals in decision-making and support skill development across settings. - Emergency and Safety Compliance:
Respond to emergencies and ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures, including fire and disaster planning. - Flexibility and Adaptability:
Select shifts based on availability and adapt to the needs of individuals across varied settings.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; at least 18 years of age.
- Basic language, written, and computer skills for communication and documentation.
- Experience supporting people with disabilities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Crisis prevention, intervention, and teaching skills.
- Valid driver’s license, insured vehicle, and safe driving record.
- Ability to speak, hear, and read English.
- Physical ability to perform job duties (e.g., ability to run, squat, kneel, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull). Ability to implement non-physical and approved physical interventions and CPR when needed.
- Adequate vision, writing, and documentation skills to perform essential functions.
Working Hours:
30+ hours per week minimum, overnight. Starting pay: $16.00 per hour, with a $3.00 per hour shift differential for direct care shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.
