Description
The building technician’s role is to ensure proper technology functionality for all staff and students. The
building technician is the first line of defense for all technology within his or her building. This includes
receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and resolving end user help requests via email, classroom visits, or
visits to the building tech help room.
ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and diagnose technology hardware such as, but not limited to, Mac Book, iPad, or Windows.
Field incoming help requests from staff, students, and parents in a courteous manner.
Offer timely responses and give updates to issues that may take time to resolve.
Enter and maintain accurate and consistent asset and personnel records in all inventory applications.
Use idle time in a productive manner that improves the use of technology for staff, students, and parents.
Maintain proficiency in common software applications such as Google, Apple (OS and iOS), and Canvas.
In a timely manner, complete all necessary paperwork for repairs, insurance claims, and/or Apple Care.
Manage building level websites and/or participate in social media management for your building.
Attend all required meetings.
Adhere to district and building level attendance policies.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
When required, travel within the school district to perform above duties.
Position Requirements Formal Education & Certification- Experience in working with computers and technology in general.
- Some type of past technology training preferred.
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software, such as Google and Apple software.
- Experience with Apple OS and iOS/iPadOS operating systems.
- Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic/troubleshooting methods.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, focused on rapport building, listening, and questioning skills.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Ability to manage time wisely and use idle time in a professional manner.
- Highly self motivated and directed.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
- Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
