Summary
Summary:
Responsible for reducing maintenance costs and improving equipment reliability by preparing detailed job plans, coordinating key scheduling activities with other departments, and ensuring work order data integrity. Facilitates and champions the advancement of the fundamental principles of the reliability centered maintenance (RCM) program. Maintains all levels of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Uses engineering principles to accurately scope jobs and plan maintenance work to increase overall equipment reliability.
- Utilizes CMMS for the creation of task lists and maintenance plans to assist in job planning.
- Estimates the skills and labor hours needed to perform work by visiting job site of new work order requests and coordinating with technicians.
- Ensures the accuracy of the information on work order requests and convert to work orders
- Assists in obtaining technical and engineering documents, specifications, and drawings required for each scheduled job when needed as possible.
- Manages work backlogs (planned and unplanned) utilizing the CMMS system
- Prepares the weekly schedule and reviews it with maintenance management
- Establishes job priorities, with the assistance of production and maintenance management
- Plans for interruptions in work and develops backup plans.
- Defines scope, cost and engineering needed for outage jobs
- Maintains the mill preventive maintenance program
- Utilizes predictive data (Thermography, vibration reports, oil analysis, etc.) to assist in setting priorities for outage work
- Assist the failure analysis effort by helping implement corrective actions that are needed to prevent reoccurrence of equipment failure
- Reserves and allocates Storeroom stock items for planned jobs (Pick Tickets).
- Updates equipment history
- Responsible ensuring LOTO are current in CMMS, Hot Work & Confined Space permits attached to Work Order when necessary.
- Ensure that all completed work orders are properly closed out.
- Assist with Maintenance Supervisors responsibilities as needed.
- Assists the Safety Manager in the development, implementation, of safety and housekeeping programs.
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Superintendent
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (General but not limited to):
- Typical workday is 10 hours, and at certain times can run as high as 16 hours
- Ability to be on feet for greater than 5 hours per day
- Ability to walk up to 5 – 10 miles each workday
- Ability to work in hot environments which at times can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders in environments exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Ability to work in above listed environments (temps/stairs/ladder climbing) while wearing required PPE
- Required PPE – Hard hat or bump cap, Steel toed boots, safety glasses, Hearing protection, full length slacks, shirt (sleeveless permitted but must fit close to body with no openings on sides)
- Able to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
- Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Able to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
SAFETY EFFORTS AND MOTIVATION: Responsible for knowing and following all safety rules. Proper and safe conduct is encouraged in and around the facility and machinery. It is expected that each employee use proper personal safety protection. Required personal protection equipment would include, hard hat or bump cap, steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, full length slacks and shirt. It is likewise expected that each employee will protect other associates and company property from accidents, illnesses, and health hazards.
Safety is part of this job function and will be considered in performance evaluations, promotions, and any other form of recognition including pay rates. It is expected that any potential hazards observed be reported to the appropriate supervisor and/or the Safety Director.
