Position summary:

The Campus Nurse is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing medical services for residential youth at Josiah White’s. This role provides comprehensive nursing assessment, care planning, treatment implementation, and health education while collaborating closely with residential staff, treatment teams, families and external medical providers.

Qualifications
  • An individual with strong convictions who is also in agreement with Josiah White’s mission statement, Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have an active Indiana license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Previous experience prescribing and managing psychotropic medications for youth is required.
  • Must be able to complete Model of Care training.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
Essential job functions
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments by evaluating clients’ physical and mental health status through observation, interviews, and physical assessments to identify needs, risks, and priorities. Monitor and reassess client conditions as needed.
  • Develop and manage nursing care plans by creating, implementing, and revising individualized, goal-oriented plans of care based on physician orders and client needs.
  • Provide clinical treatment and medical intervention to prevent complications and respond effectively to urgent or life‑threatening conditions.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams and medical providers by coordinating care with residential leadership and supervisors, therapists, and physicians.
  • Regularly evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust nursing interventions as client needs change.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation by maintaining complete medical records from admission through discharge in compliance with physician orders and agency policies.
  • Adhere to strict standards with regard to confidentiality, safety, infection control, and legal regulations.
  • Deliver health and medication education by providing programming to staff and clients upon admission and as clinically indicated.
  • Provide on‑call consultation and support by participating in an on‑call rotation.
  • Maintain professional standards and development by completing required training, maintaining licensure, and documenting continuing education in accordance with organizational requirements.
Work Schedule

This position requires, on average, 40 hours per week. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. However, depending on the project cycles and workflow demands, additional hours or workday schedule changes may be required. This position requires participation in an on‑call rotation.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The employee in this role will work in clinical and office environments, residential cottages, and community settings as appropriate to service delivery. This position has regular interaction with youth who may have medical, emotional, and behavioral health needs, including exposure to crisis situations. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids, communicable illnesses, and other health‑related risks consistent with a healthcare setting.

The employee must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach to perform physical assessments; lift, carry, push/pull up to 50 pounds; visually assess clients and read medical records and medication labels; hear and respond to verbal communication, alarms, and emergency situations; respond physically and emotionally to medical or behavioral emergencies;

successfully complete Mindset, our crisis and de‑escalation curriculum, and CPR/First Aid training, which requires the ability to get on the floor, on knees, and back up. Some local travel is required.
