Bird Heavy Civil is recruiting an experienced and qualified Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to work on projects that matter to you and to the communities in which we work.

Qualifications- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience performing regular maintenance duties on Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, and John Deere construction equipment.
- Fall Protection, Power Lines Hazards, Air Brake Endorsement, WHMIS 2015, Utility Safety Training, First Aid, and Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out Training required.
- Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems, My Komatsu, and Cummins computer applications.
- Ability to work proactively and effectively with excellent organizational and task‑execution skills.
- Team‑player with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of standard Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and practices in the construction industry.
- Availability to work on a rotational basis (14‑14 FI‑FO) on remote sites with camp accommodations.
- Availability to work day and night shift.
- Valid driver’s license or equivalent is an asset.
- Location:
Wabush, Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair equipment in a heavy civil construction environment.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and verify compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
- Interact with other construction equipment regularly.
- Exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety.
- Operate equipment safely while following manufacturers’ and industry standards in a productive work environment.
- Attend daily pre‑shift meetings and toolbox meetings.
- Interpret verbal and non‑verbal communication (including hand signals) and act accordingly.
- Perform other duties as required.
