VP, Corporate Controller

Cornerstone Caregiving is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead and scale the company’s accounting operations, financial close process, and overall accounting infrastructure across a rapidly growing national platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this executive-level accounting leader will serve as the operational owner of the accounting function and play a critical role in building the financial foundation necessary to support Cornerstone’s continued expansion.

This is not a traditional maintenance Controller role. This is a highly operational, build-oriented leadership opportunity designed for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and understands how to create structure, accountability, and scalability within a complex accounting organization.

The Corporate Controller will oversee the integrity of the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, banking operations, payroll accounting oversight, and the transformation of the company’s accounting and bookkeeping functions supporting more than 450 locations nationwide. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership, finance, payroll, operations, and external partners to improve reporting quality, strengthen internal controls, build scalable processes, and develop a high-performing accounting organization capable of supporting a private equity-backed company operating at significant scale.

The ideal candidate is someone who has successfully led accounting operations within a high-growth, multi-location environment and possesses both strong technical accounting expertise and hands‑on operational leadership experience.

• Own and lead the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, accountability, reporting quality, and timely delivery across all entities
• Oversee general ledger integrity including account reconciliations, journal entry review, financial controls, and sign‑off authority
• Lead oversight of accounts payable, payroll accounting, leases, corporate spend management, and company‑wide reconciliation processes
• Manage treasury and banking operations including cash positioning, banking relationships, liquidity visibility, and financial operational stability
• Direct and scale the bookkeeping and accounting support functions, including offshore operations and process automation initiatives aligned with the company’s future operating model
• Ensure audit readiness across the organization by maintaining strong documentation standards, internal controls, compliance processes, and coordination with internal and external audit partners
• Own the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes with accountability for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all entities.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, including intercompany entries and eliminations.
• Maintain GL integrity; prepare and review top‑level journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and multi‑entity consolidations.
• Enforce GAAP compliance and a consistent, documented controls environment across all locations.
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for accounting judgment calls across field and corporate teams.
• Lead and develop a distributed team of accountants and bookkeepers, establishing clear performance expectations and a culture of accountability.
• Serve as the principal liaison between corporate finance and field‑level bookkeeping operations, ensuring procedural consistency and reporting standards across all locations.
• Partner with the Head of Finance to define team structure, sequence key hires, and build the accounting org as the platform scales.
• Lead the bookkeeping function transformation — partner with the Bookkeeping Manager on offshore migration, automation, and the long‑term operating model that converts transactional volume into a leveraged structure.
