Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms diverse functions supporting admissions activities for the overall college mission. Performs delegated responsibilities for specific admissions tasks. Provides a wide range of customer service, disseminating pertinent information to students, other staff, faculty and administrators. This position receives direction from the Coordinator, Student Admissions and exercises no supervision.
NoteNOTE: This is a security sensitive position, and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
Selection CriteriaThe cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:
Knowledge of:
- The full admissions process, including application review, transcript evaluation, and enrollment requirements;
- State, federal, and institutional admissions policies, rules, and compliance standards;
- Transcript types, including high school, college, and military transcripts;
- Transfer credit evaluation and course equivalency practices;
- Student information systems and electronic records management;
- Customer service principles in a higher education setting;
Skills in:
- Processing and evaluating admissions documents with accuracy and attention to detail;
- Using multiple electronic systems, databases, and online portals to manage student records;
- Researching institutions, coursework, and equivalencies using external databases;
- Data entry, document imaging, and maintaining confidential electronic student files;
- Interpreting and applying admissions policies and procedural guidelines;
- Providing clear, professional customer service to students, staff, faculty, and external partners;
- Organization, time management, and prioritizing tasks in a high-volume environment;
- Written and verbal communication, including official correspondence;
Ability to:
- Work accurately, efficiently, and independently while meeting deadlines;
- Analyze records, identify discrepancies or duplicate entries, and initiate corrective action;
- Adapt to changing procedures, technologies, and regulatory requirements;
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments and external agencies while maintaining confidentiality.
Sedentary desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal hazard/exposure–standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
Minimum Qualification RequirementsEducation: Associate Degree from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 12 college credits plus relevant work experience may be substituted for the required degree.
Experience: More than one year of work experience in an office environment, including graduate work and internships.
