Student Worker - Human Sciences and Design Administrative Support
The Department of Human Sciences and Design (HSD) is seeking dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive students to join our administrative support team. Student workers in this role are essential to the daily operations of the department and serve as the first point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and visitors in the Goebel and Mary Gibbs Jones buildings. This position offers hands-on experience in office management, marketing, event support, customer service, and professional communication.
Administrative Support student workers are assigned to specific locations or academic divisions and may be matched to tasks or projects within HSD based on skills, area of study, and interests. With guidance from staff and faculty, student workers will contribute meaningfully to the department's divisions and operations.
Ideal candidates are friendly, reliable, self-motivated, and capable of balancing tasks independently while maintaining professionalism.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors, answer phones, and provide excellent customer service
- Complete clerical and organizational tasks such as filing, copying, sorting, and data entry
- Contribute to departmental social media and marketing initiatives
- Support events and special projects within assigned HSD divisions
- Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information
- Assist with faculty and program-specific tasks based on skills and interests
- Help maintain clean, functional work spaces for faculty and students
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Provide general office assistance and support
- Greet clients and visitors with excellent customer service; answer inquiries and provide information
- Maintain files and reports and ensure confidentiality of information
- Assist with various projects, activities or tasks as needed
