The purpose of this position is to serve as the Program Support Assistant for the Environmental Management Service. This role is essential within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), providing independent clerical and administrative support to the service with limited supervisor guidance.
DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY:This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.205) for this occupation. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/10/2026.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
- Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Reviewing documents for correct grammar, spelling, and errors; operating computer software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint to create documents for review and publication; preparing a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other related materials; telephone and customer service skills. OR, - Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have four years above High School. OR,
- Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond.
