Primoris Heavy Civil is currently searching for an experienced and detail-oriented Surveyor Party Chief for our Waco, TX project. This individual will assist our Sr. Surveyor on field surveying operations on a heavy highway construction site. This role is critical in supporting accurate layout, alignment, and quality control of roadways, bridges, utilities, and other civil structures.
JOB SUMMARY
Provide internal surveying service to ensure construction work complies with design drawing locations. The ideal candidate will assist layout schedules, ensure data accuracy, and support the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure projects.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Practice safety rules.

- Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
- Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
- Accountable for all tools and materials at the end of your shift.
- Must work well as part of a team.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Provide work control lines and elevations that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by crafts (Ex: forms for concrete pours, anchor bolts, piping hanger and supports, etc.).
- Provide checking of “as built” conditions that require the use of surveying techniques.
- Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
- Provide quantity calculations as required.
- Prepare documentation of surveying activities (field books) “as built” drawings and submit for approval upon completion.
- Maintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipment.
- Coordinate surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirements.
- Accuracy verification of plan drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to use all the surveying equipment and techniques essential.
- Ability to accurately read blueprints and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.).
- Perform additional related assignments as directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill.
- Two years technical engineering/surveying training.
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to pass physical examination, pre-employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
- Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Able to carry 50 lbs. of tool and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
