Position: 2 Construction Managers (Waco, TX)

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Managers that will support the EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades project at the Doris Miller Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Waco, Texas. You will manage construction submittals, monitor schedules and field activities, conduct inspections, track project documentation, and help ensure work complies with contract requirements and quality standards.

This position is contingent upon contract award. If awarded, the contract will have a potential period of one (1) year base period with one (1) option year, for a total potential period of performance of up to two (2) years.

The project is expected to commence on September 1, 2026.

Key responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage the construction submittal process to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes.
  • Track long-lead materials and monitor construction schedules, milestones, workflow, material deliveries, and inspection activities.
  • Attend progress meetings, monitor project activities, and follow up on Government action items.
  • Verify and maintain as-built drawings throughout construction and ensure project records remain current.
  • Perform field inspections, identify non-conforming work, document defects, and report corrective actions to the COR.
  • Assist in resolving construction issues by recommending practical solutions and providing troubleshooting support.
  • Support commissioning activities and provide construction administration services, including RFIs, daily logs, change orders, closeout submittals, and coordination of owner-furnished equipment.
  • Must have prior experience in hospital/healthcare facilities.
  • Provide claims analysis and dispute resolution support through reports, cost estimates, time impact analyses, and risk assessments when required.
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field
  • Must have prior experience in hospital/healthcare facilities.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible construction field experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable construction work experience in field construction activities, quality assurance, and contractor performance monitoring on projects of similar size and complexity
  • Working knowledge of construction practices, site operations, construction documents, and baseline schedules
  • Successfully completed at least three (3) projects of comparable scale and complexity in a construction management or similar role
  • Proficient in construction management and scheduling software and standard office applications
  • Meet or exceed applicable professional practice and performance standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC), OSHA, and VA policies and design standards.
  • Obtain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card and complete required VA Privacy and Cyber Security Awareness training.
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license and obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NACI).
