Position: Interior Designer (3-5 Years Experience)

RBDR Architects is an award-winning architecture and interior design firm based in Waco, Texas, with a legacy dating back to the 1940s. The firm specializes in architecture, planning, and interior design, serving educational, commercial, civic, and religious clients throughout Texas. While their work is widely varied within the commercial realm, they maintain deep expertise across a broad range of project typologies and scales.

About the Role

RBDR Architects is seeking a talented and experienced Interior Designer with minimum 3–5 years of professional experience to join our collaborative design team in Waco, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to take a leading role in the development and execution of interior design projects across a variety of commercial project types.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and organized professional with strong design sensibilities, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities throughout all phases of a project. This individual should be comfortable collaborating directly with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal project teams while contributing to both the creative and technical success of each project.

With a firm of approximately 15–18 people, team members have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, take ownership of their work, and continue growing professionally within a collaborative studio environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead interior design efforts from conceptual design through construction documentation and project completion
  • Develop space plans, finish palettes, furniture layouts, and interior detailing packages
  • Create high-quality presentation materials, renderings, and client-facing design documentation
  • Produce and coordinate construction drawings and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, vendors, and contractors throughout project development
  • Participate in and help lead client meetings, presentations, and project coordination discussions
  • Conduct site visits, field verification, and construction administration tasks as needed
  • Assist in managing project schedules, deadlines, and design deliverables
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior team members and support a positive studio culture
  • Maintain awareness of current design trends, products, materials, and industry standards
Qualifications
  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • 3–5 years of professional interior design experience
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience producing construction documents and coordinating project documentation
  • Knowledge of Sketch Up, Lumion, or other rendering software is a plus
  • Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to design excellence
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with commercial, educational, civic, or institutional project types
  • Familiarity with FF&E selection, specification, and vendor coordination
  • Understanding of building systems, codes, accessibility requirements, and construction processes
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and materials is a plus
  • NCIDQ track or licensure is a plus
