Primary PurposeAssist campus with behavioral support. Provide opportunity for skill development or reinforcement within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), including diffusing disruptive student behavior to refocus and transition students into classroom activities. Work directly under the supervision of a campus administrator.
Qualifications- Education/Certification: Associate’s degree or two years of study (60 college hours) at an institute of higher learning or Para Professional Institute Certificate. Valid Texas educational aide certificate.

Skills:
Ability to work well with children; assist in behavior skill instruction; de‑escalate or redirect unsafe or disruptive student behaviors; communicate effectively while maintaining confidentiality. - Experience: Some experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
- Assist in the instruction of social‑emotional and/or behavioral skills contributing to a safe learning environment under direct supervision of campus administrator or designee.
- Assist in the de‑escalation of unsafe or disruptive student behaviors under direct supervision of campus administrator or designee. Facilitate student refocus on classroom activities.
- Assist with the preparation or maintenance of student records and behavior‑related reports in accordance with board policies, administrative regulations, individual education plans and/or behavior intervention plans.
- As directed by principal or designee, keep instructional staff informed of special needs or intervention strategies for students receiving targeted or individualized support.
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- As directed by principal or designee, supervise students assigned to in‑school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher to facilitate return to regular classroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal in alignment with MTSS guidelines and contributing to overall campus safety.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Constant contact with students, parents and staff.
