Position: Learning Coach (Math)

Learning Coach (Math) – Connally Independent School District

The Learning Coach (LC) supports teachers by enhancing instructional practices, promoting student success, and implementing innovative teaching strategies. The LC works directly with students, providing individualized academic support and contributing to curriculum implementation.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Certified in the area assigned (ELAR or Math)
  • ESL Certification preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum three years of classroom teaching experience with strong instructional skills and proven academic outcomes
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to intervene with small groups of identified students around academic standards
  • Deep content knowledge in ELAR or Math with an achievement and outcomes orientation
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage children
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software applications
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for professional collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service‑oriented approach
  • Flexibility to handle changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Major Responsibilities and Duties

I. Instructional Support
  • Provide student support in collaboration with classroom teachers and in small‑group settings
  • Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual students’ culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio‑economic background
  • Utilize materials and resources that support learning objectives and address varying learning styles and needs
  • Establish and maintain a positive, safe learning environment that encourages active engagement and self‑directed learning
  • Assist with the development and implementation of student support and self‑directed learning plans
  • Monitor and communicate progress of identified students
  • Create structures for students to showcase learning to families, staff, and professionals
  • Support student independence with acceleration support to help them achieve expectations in learning and innovation labs
  • Support implementation of classroom expectations for the environment and instructional cycle
  • Assist with timely transitions for students entering or leaving intervention or extension activities
  • Assist with grading and organizing student work on a weekly basis
  • Collaborate with teachers to enhance instructional strategies, differentiation, and assessment practices
  • Support implementation of curriculum plans aligned with state standards and district initiatives
  • Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and identify areas for instructional improvement
  • Work with educators, instructional leaders, and support staff to align initiatives and support student success
  • Stay updated on educational trends, research, and best practices
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
  • Apply deep content and pedagogical knowledge to move students to grade‑level proficiency
  • Create engaging, rigorous lesson plans
  • Implement robust, outcome‑based intervention plans that sequence and scaffold learning to maximize access to grade‑level standards
  • Leverage collective understanding of the multidisciplinary/MTSS team to increase student outcomes
  • Use data from student work, assessments, and observations to refine interventions, extensions, and support
II. Other Duties
  • Apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Communicate with principal, teachers, and staff about identified student needs and offer support as needed
  • Communicate and model research‑based instructional practices that increase student performance
  • Maintain awareness of current research and trends in curriculum
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive school culture through open communication and teamwork
  • Participate in school‑wide initiatives, committees, and professional learning communities
  • Support classroom management and substitute as needed
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
