Assistant Director of One Stop – Recruitment Specialist
Location:
Waco, TX, United States
- Serve as the primary referral resource for the Admissions Counseling team regarding financial aid packages and cost of attendance.
- Provide individualized guidance to families about scholarships, grants, loans, and financing options while maintaining compliance boundaries for financial aid advising.
- Assist families in interpreting financial aid offers and understanding how various aid components support enrollment decisions.
- Utilize tools such as net-price calculator and financial planning worksheets to help families evaluate the long-term financial investment in a Baylor education.
- Collaborate with Student Financial Services staff on complex financial-aid questions or compliance issues.
- Lead and coordinate individualized financial-fit conversations for prospective and admitted students and families.
- Help families understand the value and return on investment of a Baylor education.
- Support the Admissions Counseling team in addressing financial concerns that may impact enrollment decisions.
- Assist with yield initiatives to support students with financial concerns during decision-making.
- Work with admissions leadership to identify opportunities for students at risk of not enrolling due to financial uncertainty.
- Contribute to initiatives that improve financial clarity and confidence for families evaluating Baylor.
- Develop and deliver financial-aid and financial-literacy presentations for campus visitors, prospective student groups, and recruitment programs.
- Support programming for events such as campus visit programs, scholarship events, and other admissions programs where financial-aid education may benefit families.
- Create resources and tools that help families understand financial aid processes, timelines, and planning.
- Provide training and resources to admissions counselors to increase staff confidence and consistency when discussing financial aid topics.
- Develop talking points, guides, and tools to help admissions staff navigate common financial aid questions.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource for the Admissions Counseling team regarding financial-aid processes and financial planning conversations.
- Provide training to the One Stop team on undergraduate admissions timelines, prospective student marketing, and recruitment initiatives.
- Maintain regular collaboration with Student Financial Services leadership to stay informed of financial-aid updates, policies, and timelines.
- Meet regularly with financial-aid leadership to share insights regarding family concerns, barriers, and enrollment trends.
- Identify patterns and trends in financial questions from prospective families and communicate insights to admissions and financial-aid leadership.
- Work in conjunction with Admissions leadership and the Senior Director of Undergraduate Admission.
- Attend meetings with Undergraduate Admissions and campus visits to ensure alignment between One Stop and Admissions.
- Assist with strategic enrollment initiatives related to affordability, yield, and student success.
- Support select recruitment initiatives, including occasional travel with the Admissions Counseling team to larger recruitment events or programs.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission and comply with university policies.
- Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience (five years preferred).
- Expert knowledge of financial-aid counseling, verification rules, regulations, student billing, admissions, and/or registrar offices.
- Expert knowledge of enrollment-management, outreach, and/or admissions.
- Experience training and presenting to staff or groups.
- Analytical skills and ability to interpret data to refine strategies and improve enrollment outcomes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong decision-making and independent judgment.
- Ability to meet deadlines, maintain accuracy, professionalism, and a customer-service orientation.
- Professional demeanor when communicating with students and families.
