POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED
This position is responsible for planning, developing, and directing a comprehensive Language, Literature, and Communications division, including English, Developmental Integrated Reading and Writing, Communication Studies/Speech, and Foreign Languages. The role supervises faculty performance, ensures appropriate instructional staffing, supports professional development, creates course schedules and addresses instructional concerns. Additional responsibilities include managing the division budget, participating in institutional planning and committee work, and representing the division in meetings and conferences.
This position serves as a leadership role model for the division, campus, and surrounding community. This position receives general direction from the Dean of Arts and Sciences, and exercises supervision over faculty, professional, and support staff.

- Academic disciplines within language, literature, and communications, including English, composition, speech, and related fields;
- Accreditation standards, institutional policies, and compliance requirements affecting instructional programs;
- Faculty evaluation processes, professional development models, and instructional best practices;
- Budget development, fiscal management, and resource allocation within an academic division;
- Student support services, advising practices, and pathways that promote student success and retention;
- Leadership, collaboration, and shared governance within a higher education environment;
- Time management, organization, and prioritization to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines;
- Interpersonal communication needed to work collegially with faculty, administrators, staff, and students;
- Conflict resolution, problem‑solving, and mediation of instructional or personnel concerns;
- Data‑informed decision‑making related to scheduling, staffing, and program effectiveness;
- Facilitating meetings, professional development activities, and collaborative planning efforts;
- Think, speak, and write effectively, often on short notice and in collaboration with other administrative offices across campus;
- Assess complex and fluid situations quickly while remaining calm under stressful conditions;
- Supervise, evaluate, and support faculty performance while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment;
- Plan, implement, and manage course schedules and instructional staffing to meet institutional and student needs;
- Balance instructional, administrative, and leadership responsibilities throughout the academic year;
- Serve as a professional role model and representative of the division to the campus and broader community;
