Salary: $20,420 to $24,594 Annually
Salary calculations will be commensurate with job experience.
Primary PurposeAn instructional assistant (float) is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of a regular classroom teacher. Daily assignments will be determined by campus administrator-based campus needs.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively

- Some experience working with children

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping.
Motion: Moderate walking.
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move books and classroom equipment.
Assistants covering absences of Special Education teachers: Occasional heavy lifting (45 lbs. or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment.
Environment: Work inside and outside; exposure to noise.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
