Primary
Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the fine arts subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies aligned with the T.E.K.S. for fine arts and interpersonal skills to function successfully in society. Recruit and develop students in academic and extracurricular theatre/drama performances, UIL one-act play, and other assigned competitions annually as directed by the District Director of Fine Arts.
QualificationsEducation/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned.
Demonstrated competency in the fine arts academic subject area assigned.

- Knowledge of subjects assigned

- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of UIL rules and regulations pertaining to theatre arts and One-Act Play
- Knowledge of UIL rules and regulations pertaining to Theatrical Design and other assigned performances and contests in theatre arts and fine arts.
Experience: At least one year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Develop and present subject matter in accordance with TEA guidelines, district curriculum, and board policies, maintaining written evidence of preparation as required.
- Plan and implement lesson plans that utilize appropriate materials and activities tailored to the diverse learning styles, needs, and accommodations of all assigned students.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing and conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Work with other theatre teacher(s), district fine arts director, and members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of any teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to enhance the teaching/learning process.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Assume responsibility for directing plays, scenes and performances, along with any extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal and district director of fine arts.
- Be a positive role model for students; support the school district's mission.
- Foster a safe, productive learning environment by managing student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct while supporting their physical, social, and emotional development.
- Exercise professional judgment in protecting students and school property while actively contributing to the selection of instructional materials and equipment.
- Foster and maintain positive, professional relationships and communication with all stakeholders (including students, parents, colleagues, and community members), through clear, accurate information sharing and proactive conferencing. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills, including, but not limited to theatre PLCs, campus and district professional development, and attendance to professional conferences.
- Keep informed of and follow state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, PLCs, and serve on staff committees as required.
- Coordinate with district fine arts leadership and theatre colleagues to align curriculum continuity, manage program infrastructure and inventory, and facilitate seamless student transitions between campus levels.
- Be active in professional organizations related to theatre arts along with the theatre arts educational program.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of Texas Fine Arts TEKS regarding theatre arts.
- Assist feeder pattern and district theatre arts instructors with productions, rehearsals, recruiting and contests.
- Coordinate and supervise all after-school rehearsals and events, collaborating with colleagues to ensure student safety during activities and while awaiting transportation.
