Role and PurposeAs the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, you will direct and manage the district's instruction, professional learning, and campus leadership functions. Provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the district's instructional programs. Supervise and support campus principals to ensure effective instructional leadership, high-quality teaching and learning, compliance with state and federal requirements, and alignment with the district's mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Education Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, Public Policy/Administration, or related field; doctorate preferred
- Certification as a school administrator preferred; campus leadership, district leadership and teaching experience required
- Candidate must hold and maintain a valid Texas educator certificate
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Knowledge of instructional leadership, school improvement, and effective teaching practices.
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, instructional materials, and curriculum alignment.
- Knowledge of federal and state education laws, Texas Education Agency rules, State Board of Education rules, local board policy, and district procedures.
- Knowledge of campus leadership, staff development, teacher appraisal systems, and principal supervision.
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
- Ability to interpret data and use data to guide instructional decisions, campus improvement planning, and district wide improvement efforts.
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor instructional programs.
- Ability to lead campus principals and support effective campus instructional systems and student achievement.
- Ability to manage budget and personnel.
- Direct the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of instructional programs throughout the district.
- Ensure that instruction is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, state assessment requirements, college and career readiness standards, and district goals.
- Provide leadership for instructional planning, intervention programs, enrichment opportunities, and instructional improvement.
- Monitor the delivery of instructional programs and work with campus leaders to ensure effective implementation.
- Ensure the instructional framework is being implemented and monitored.
- Evaluate instructional programs and recommend changes based on student achievement data, program evaluations, research-based practices, and district needs.
- Coordinate district wide instructional initiatives to ensure consistency, coherence, and continuous improvement across all campuses.
- Ensure PLC protocols are being implemented and monitored.
- Collaborate with Senior Director of Talent Management on planning and coordinating Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA).
- Promote high expectations for student learning, staff performance, instructional quality, and campus accountability.
- Plan and coordinate teacher apprenticeship and mentor programs.
- Direct the development and implementation of instructional resources.
- Supervise and evaluate principals and associate principals.
- Collaborate with Senior Director of Talent Management on teacher leadership and pipeline programs.
- Provide leadership development for principals, associate principals, and assistant principals.
- Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of summer learning.
- Provide leadership for instructional planning as it relates to DOL, intervention, and extension.
- Directly supervise, support, coach, and evaluate campus principals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to principals in instructional leadership, campus improvement, staff supervision, student achievement, school culture, and parent communication.
- Conduct regular meetings with principals to monitor progress, address instructional needs, and align with district goals.
- Support principals in developing and implementing campus improvement plans based on student performance data and district priorities.
- Assist principals in analyzing assessment results, identifying achievement gaps, developing intervention plans, and monitoring student progress.
- Provide coaching and feedback to principals to strengthen leadership capacity and instructional systems.
- Work with principals to promote safe, orderly, inclusive, and effective learning environments.
- Collaborate with principals to ensure consistent implementation of curriculum, instructional expectations, assessment practices, and student support systems.
