Position Summary
The Instructional Designer partners with faculty to develop and revise course materials using web-based learning management systems and instructional technologies. This position designs courses, creates multimedia learning materials, and provides training and guidance on effective course design, distance education tools, and ADA-compliant instructional content. It receives general direction from the Coordinator of Instructional Design and operates independently with no supervision.

Selection Criteria- Knowledge of learning management systems such as D2L Brightspace and other web‑based course delivery platforms; best practices, theories, and current trends in online, hybrid, and distance education; instructional technologies, multimedia tools, and methods used to create, edit, and deliver digital learning content; accessibility, compliance, and regulatory requirements for online learning (ADA, copyright, RSI, generative AI).
- Skills in designing visually engaging, instructionally sound materials for digital learning environments; consulting with faculty and staff through active listening, customer service, and needs assessment; synthesizing information and translating instructional concepts into effective course content and learning experiences; providing constructive feedback, solving problems, and making informed decisions related to instructional design and educational technology.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines independently; collaborate with faculty, staff, and stakeholders to design, develop, and adapt curriculum and instructional materials for online and hybrid delivery; communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing; develop and deliver training, workshops, and guidance on instructional technologies and generative AI; provide caring high‑quality service, creating welcoming experiences, communicating proactively, addressing needs with professionalism and empathy.
Conditions
Sedentary desk work, occasional field trips for college or program activities. Minimal hazard/exposure in a standard office setting. Environmental controls in place to assure health and comfort.
Minimum Qualification Requirements- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Education.
- More than one year of work experience in education.
- Master's Degree in Instructional/Educational Technology or Curriculum Design, emphasis on online course development or certification.
- One year of relevant experience developing courses for online presentation with proficiency in PC computers and editing digital video and audio for streaming.
