Job Title: ARD Facilitator

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt/Contracted

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Pay Grade/Days: 103/202 Days

Dept./School: Administration

Primary Purpose

Facilitate and coordinate activities related to the admission, renewal, and dismissal (ARD) process.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas Special Education certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Effective and positive communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team‑building skills
  • Knowledge of special education rules and regulations
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Ability to adjust to change in a positive manner
Experience

Minimum of three years special education teaching experience, preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Coordinate ARD meetings on campuses.
  • Coordinate with testing diagnostician regarding special education student needs.
  • Maintain special education student folders.
  • Adhere to federal, state and local special education requirements, especially in the areas of annual ARDs and all evaluations.
  • Process referrals to special education from SAT.
  • Share with administrator the role of ARD facilitator and note taker at ARD meetings.
  • Stay up‑to‑date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  • Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking actions.
  • Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
  • Display proficient levels of technology applications.
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
  • Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
  • Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.
  • Maintain friendly customer‑driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co‑workers.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
  • Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).
  • Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Working Conditions

    Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to proficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to consistently interact with students and staff in positive manner. Varied working environment; frequent district‑wide travel; moderate standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; performing restraint techniques with students when required.
