Primary PurposeAssist Special Education teacher in implementing student IEP's. Work under general supervision of principal and immediate direction of certified teacher.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
Associate's degree or two years of study (60 college hours) at an institute of higher learning or Paraprofessional Institute Certificate Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Ability/willingness to work with children with disabilities Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Ability to adapt to changes in routine and needs of students Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics Ability to use basic job-related equipment (computer, projector, copier, scanner, etc.) Ability to work with and effectively communicate with diverse groups

Major Responsibilities and DutiesNone
Equipment UsedPatient lift, ramp, copier, computer, audiovisual equipment, and specialized equipment or materials necessary to support student IEP's.
Working ConditionsMaintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
