Purpose:
Provide intensive, targeted instruction using explicit, systematic, research‑based teaching strategies to close learning gaps for students performing multiple years below grade level. The teacher will identify foundational skills, determine evidence‑based interventions, and complete ongoing progress monitoring to measure student growth.
Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements and training for subject and level assigned.
Experience: At least three (3) years of successful teaching is preferred.
Special Knowledge and Skills- Knowledge of academic needs of students in assigned area
- Knowledge of the SMART goal setting process and implementation
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
- Exceptional knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Exceptional knowledge of using data to inform instructional learning plan
- Understanding of how to create aligned assessments to measure student progress toward mastery of goals
- Ability to scaffold instruction to meet the individual needs of students
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with teams collaboratively toward achieving a common goal
- Work with individual students and student groups to provide targeted instruction using explicit and systematic, research‑based instruction and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Work with campus and district Instructional Specialists in developing and implementing effective instruction.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Develop student learning plans with SMART goals to identify foundational skills needed for success.
- Create assessments to monitor student progress toward mastery of learning goals.
- Maintain data‑based documents of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress.
- Provide data to school teams (GLC and SAT) and participate in the decisions about student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.
- Create a work environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of each student.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for compensatory education teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees.
- Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
- If required, maintain a daily "Time and Effort" log to reflect actual daily activities and time spent on each activity; each week submit signed/dated daily "Time and Effort" logs for the prior week to the principal for signature. Principal will forward the "Time and Effort" logs to the district's State and Programs Office.
