Primary Purpose: Assist campus with behavioral support. Provide opportunity for skill development or reinforcement within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), including diffusing disruptive student behavior to refocus and transition students into classroom activities. Work directly under the supervision of a campus administrator.
QualificationsEducation/Certification: Associate's degree or two years of study (60 college hours) at an institute of higher learning or Para Professional Institute Certificate Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children Ability to assist in behavior skill instruction Ability to de-escalate or redirect unsafe or disruptive student behaviors Ability to communicate effectively while maintaining confidentiality
Experience Some experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
Major Responsibilities and DutiesEquipment Used: Copier, personal computer, typewriter and audiovisual equipment
Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Constant contact with students, parents and staff.
