Job Description:
The Graduate Assistant:
Worship Assistant for Baylor Chapels will support the new chapel model by organizing and conducting worship team rehearsals and leading worship for various chapel offerings around campus that need musical support. The successful candidate will aid in the planning of liturgies, service orders, and song selections for residential chapels, campus ministries, calling and careers chapels, and/or other ministry partners. She or he will partner with diverse ministry partners with an irenic approach.
Baylor Chapel consists of more than 70 different unique offerings, mostly led by ministry partners from campus ministries, specific schools within Baylor, and various organizations. There is a growing need to aid some of these ministries by supplying a worship leader with a heart for pastoral care, embodied spirituality, and cognitive engagement. The GA:
Worship Assistant operates under the supervision of the Senior Chapel Coordinator.
Essential Functions:
- Organize and conduct worship team rehearsals.
- Lead worship for various chapels and ministry partners.
- Leading special worship services around campus (e.g., prayer vigils, Ash Wednesday).
- Plan worship programming.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Secondary Functions (May Include):
- Provide consistent feedback regarding the chapel services that are being planned. How did students respond to this chapel? What would have made this chapel more meaningful?
Desired Skills (May Include):
- Proficiency in leading congregations vocally and instrumentally.
- Administration and organization.
- Aptitude in at least one musical instrument.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Learning Outcomes:
- Further develop skills in leading congregational liturgy.
- Increase aptitude in planning liturgies and services.
- Integrate music proficiency into the ministry of chapel.
- Understand the significance of the variegated contexts within the current chapel model.
