Texas Ace After school Worker

Supervise students, lead enrichment activities and provide academic support by working with individual or small groups of students enrolled in the Texas ACE Program to close learning gaps and foster positive learning environments.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Some college or education-related coursework highly preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to meet the needs of students from various social, educational, and economic backgrounds
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience working with children in grades K-6 preferred
  • CPR and First Aid or the willingness to obtain them
  • Demonstrates change adeptness; adapts to changing deadlines and nature of assignment
  • Initiates and sustains partnerships with campus leaders and community partners
  • Shows initiative in seeking solutions to problems
  • Demonstrates servant leadership
  • Builds an environment of trust; projects credibility with students, staff, and community
  • Projects enthusiasm and energy in all efforts
  • Exhibits honesty and objectivity in professional interactions

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Implement the Texas ACE Program, under the direction of the Texas ACE Site Coordinator, to incorporate meaningful educational connections to school-day learning.
  • Ensure a safe, clean and engaging environment for students from dismissal until parent pick up.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational games, crafts, clubs and other enrichment activities.
  • Motivate and support student behaviors through positive feedback and reinforcement.
  • Inspire curiosity and build confidence through student clubs, based on student voice and choice.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the learning goals of the campus.
  • Communicate effectively with site coordinator, campus administrators, teachers, parents and students.
  • Gather and maintain students records, including attendance, participation, development and achievement data for program evaluation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the ACE Site Coordinator or Program Director.

Working Conditions

Follow the Robinson ISD school calendar. Typically working Mondays-Fridays, 3:15pm-6:15pm

Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions, occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, and walking. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
